Playing Like a Fool

By Mike Hillyer | Related entries in Stock Competition

Well you may have noticed that Jeremy started a stock competition. It looks like fun so I decided to give it a whirl.

The first thing I had to decide was how I was going to go about managing my portfolio. Jeremy is going with a balanced approach of holding some reliable stocks and taking a gamble on Novell, but that seemed too conservative for someone playing to win, so I decided to play like a lunatic instead.

I went into my spam filter folder and hunted for the first stock recommendation spam I could find: ORTE. I then bought $480,000 in ORTE.

Hey, the email wouldn’t lie, right?

Incidentally, the stock rose from $0.20 to $0.60 between the 21st, when the email was received, to today. Looks like some people actually do invest their hard-earned, real money in stock tips sent to them in unsolicited emails.
